Data Center Moratorium Ballot Measure!
We are now gathering signatures for a Data Center Moratorium Ballot Measure!
What this Moratorium Does
Institutes a ban or temporary moratorium for 48 months on Data Centers (And similar industry) in Colorado Springs
Defines Data Center based on specific water usage, electricity usage and primary purpose. (Excludes things like large hospitals, bottling plants, mining facilities, etc.)
It limits expansion of current data centers that would be subject to City approval
Why 4 Years?
The purpose of a 4 Year moratorium is to give the city reprieve and protect us from the loss of our water and power resources while legislation catches up to this emerging industry to properly regulate it for the safety of our community. Over the next 4 years it is our hope that the City Council and the State of Colorado produce regulations on data centers to protect us. If they do not, we will run another moratorium.
