588 People Emailed the City of COS About Project Taurus: Here’s What They Had to Say
Only 2 comments were in support of the AI data center. 568 comments were in opposition.
About the Respondents
80.8% of those who submitted their comment are from Colorado Springs. 8.4% of respondents are from El Paso County or elsewhere in the state of Colorado.
*Being local to COS was determined by whether a commenter gave their address and if it was within city limits. Respondents were also included as a resident if they used language implying residency such as “our city” or “our resources” in their comment. Some respondents were not specific enough to be considered as a COS resident, like those who used language such as “our state” or said “we” in regards to Colorado issues, rather than specifically Colorado Springs issues.
96.6% of all respondents are in opposition to Project Taurus. Of those who are from Colorado Springs, 97.3% oppose. Those considered “unclear” were asking for project updates without giving an opinion, or didn’t state their opinion clearly enough to imply opposition or support. Only two individuals were considered truly neutral, stating they don’t care to stop technological progress but they had questions.
Summary Of the Two Project Taurus Supporters
One individual stated that they approve of more tech in the COS area and approve of the AI data center. However, they only approve if the noise concerns from nearby residents are resolved.
The other project supporter stated that they don’t feel that any argument against the data center is substantial. They state that if we say no to this project, it will get built elsewhere where we won't get any benefit.
Summary Of Those Who Oppose Project Taurus
Many individuals had concerns about water, electricity use, noise, geographic location, infrastructure cost, assurance that resident complaints will be taken seriously, accountability and consequences if needed for Raeden, and more.
Many cited that there was not enough independent analysis regarding many of the issues above and requested that there be more of an assessment before proceeding.
A significant minority of residents stated a list of impact studies, assurances, and rules that they felt were the absolute minimum for the city of COS to do their due dilligence.

A public hearing will be held on July 23rd at 9am for the appeals made against the approval of Project Taurus. Anyone is free to speak for a maximum of two minutes, with a limit of 3hrs overall for all individuals on a given side of the argument (support or denial of the appeal).
